About Me

Welcome to my blog! My little place on the internet to share my attempts at a more mindful living and my conscience closet. I don’t think there is anything wrong with minimalism, I’m just not a fan of fast fashion.

Since marrying my college sweetheart, Travis, in 2007; I finished my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, supported my husband and I as he pursued a Masters degree from Truett Seminary at Baylor University, and additional training as he worked toward becoming a hospital chaplain. My careers have varied a lot before I found my calling as an Ethical Fashion Stylist.

FASHION | One of the reasons I wanted to become a Stylist is because I know how much our clothes can empower us. It’s not that they are magical or anything but we become confident when we feel good. Like we can do anything asked of us. I want to help women feel confident and do the AMAZING things I know they can do. And it’s easy to forget that our clothes are made by people, I hope that by purchasing with purpose and focusing on brands that work to empower artisans fashion can become a positive force for all.

My goal for my personal wardrobe isn’t necessarily trying every new trend, or a wide array of color but functional and versatile styles that I love to wear. I’m not a minimalist but I’m also not one to buy or own a lot either. Instead, my closet is full of cuts, colors, and styles I love and make me feel good wearing. So, while I do have wardrobe goals (2019 overalls and clogs), I usually wear the same things over and over.

As an Ethical Fashion Stylist & Blogger knowing that your wardrobe can empower those #whomademyclothes is a strong reason why I share my closet and outfits.

ADVENTURE |Going to new places is part of our adventure, we have been to the Galapagos, Israel, Greece, and most recently the UK, Ireland, and Paris, France. We’ve also visited a number of states through road trips, during August 2017 we spent several days in Northern California visiting Lava Beds National Monument before seeing the total solar eclipse in Madras, Oregon. Through travel we have seen, done and met so many amazing people, I could never put a price tag on our travels.

FAMILY | We have a cattle dog mix named Asher, who is one of the greatest things that has happened in my life. And 2 fluffy rescue kitties, Shade (the black one) and Huey (the striped tabby), all adopted within 6 months and eased us through some hard time in our family.

FAITH | is an important part of my life and while I believe that Jesus is the source of my peace & salvation, I also believe everyone’s path is different & everyone is worthy of love & dignity afforded to all human beings created by God. (I also expect comments to be kind and tasteful, anything else will not be allowed.)

Facts:

My dog is the best ever. Seriously have you ever seen him? Also, he’s the most devoted creature I’ve ever known.

I ‘ran’ the Yosemite half marathon in 2015, it’s the longest distance I’ve ever run/walked in my entire life. I now stick to running 5k’s, as soon as I start running again.

Married to my guy since 2007, and it’s been an amazing adventure!

We go to a Mennonite Church now but have attended UCC, Baptist, and Brethren churches in the past.

I went to Stephen F Austin SU as an Art Major and switched to Interior Design after my freshman year and now work in the fashion industry. I’ve decided my passion for art & function has culminated to this.
