Wear It Wednesday | A21 Walk for Freedom Colorado Springs

This was Travis and I’s second year participating in the A21 Walk for Freedom, the purpose of the walk is to raise awareness of modern day human trafficking. This is one way we both participate to share about human trafficking, while I don’t fundraise hard enough for the A21 walk I make up for it in December.

Human trafficking is not exclusive to some far away land, it happens in every country regardless of wealth or economic status.

As we walked around Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs, several folks stopped to ask us why we were walking. Why come out on a Saturday afternoon with strangers and walk around the lake in silence with signs?

Because human trafficking is happening here in Colorado. And the more people we can share this with could help someone in the future. We thanked our local representatives for making the Safe Harbor Act into law, protecting children previously trafficked. There is more we can do but we will celebrate our small steps along the way.

And yes, incase you’re wondering, I was cold and the wind was strong. But I’d rather it be cool for walks like this than warm. Cooler days mean more people were out enjoying the fall weather that we could talk to and share about the work A21 does to identify and rescue individuals from trafficking situations.
