2019 Color of the Year | Living Coral

While I wasn’t thrilled with Pantone’s choice of color for the new year, probably because I’m knee deep into winter presently but also because it feels done already. I was personally rooting for a Marigold yellow/orange, maybe next year!

While I was super into coral about 2 years ago when living in California, I even had an all coral Fix once from Stitch Fix. Really! And as much as I love pinks, earthy tones are simply more my style. Even though I’m not thrilled with Pantone’s choice for the year, you can find several ways to effortlessly incorporate this color into your life!

I admit to having a few summery styles already in my closet that are soaked in living coral. Like the striped top above!

PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral

An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge. Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.

In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy. Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.

Representing the fusion of modern life, PANTONE Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media.

PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.

Personally, I want to wear this hue in a more versatile way and this polish from Butter & Pantone is perfect! Expect my nails to be painted in this fresh and happy color all spring and summer!

And if nail polish isn’t your thing but being outdoors, hiking and exploring is maybe this jacket from Marmot is more your style. You’ll look polished, on-trend and be noticeable while enjoying the great outdoors.

Maybe you want something for your home, besides a fake piece of coral painted in this hue. I love this timeless armchair from Clay Alder with nailhead details and a clean look in this bright tone. So modern and yet perfect for a pop of color! In case you didn’t know, I was an Interior Design major in college, so furniture tends to hold a special place in my heart, like this ageless piece.
