Broth & Stock

Part of living adventurously for me is to do more self care. This involves eating and cooking better for my family (me & hubby). I’m a huge fan of the Nourished Kitchen blog, in fact when we lived in Montrose we weren’t far from where she & her family used to live in Crested Butte (they now reside in Washington state according to the back cover).

Last year after a small thanksgiving meal for just me and hubby, I attempted my first ever broth thanks to her first cookbook, The Nourished Kitchen. It turned out decent but there was room for improvement. With her new book, Broth & Stock, I feel Jennifer has gone into such great depth to not only explain HOW to make a broth or stock but also the differences between each and how to cook with them.

I love her easy to read introduction & explanations as well as simple recipes and stellar photography (she takes them all herself!)

Recently, we heard about an in-depth fasting program that allowed for only broths to be consumed. As drastic as a something like this could be a week long fast consisting of only ingesting a variety of broths and stocks maybe a great way to jumpstart a new level of our sugar free lifestyle (which I frequently cheat on…see Instagram evidence)

All in all this cookbook is backed full with a variety or stocks & broths, from chicken to beef and pork to shellfish and vegetable. Delicious soups and other recipes to try with your newly made stocks and how to store, freeze or use them on a daily basis.

I was given this book for free in return for an honest review. Grab a copy for yourself, HERE
