The theme for the second week of Advent is Peace. Jesus came to bring peace to the world. He spoke of Peacemakers and turning the other cheek. He taught us His Peace.
Peace I leave you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. -John 14:27 ESV
What really gets me in this verse is this gift of peace is given ‘not as the world gives…’ I have so much experience in this I should hold a degree in it. The world gives in expectation to receive back from you. Christ gave us peace with no expectation of anything in return. He simply doesn’t want us to worry or be afraid. Worldly peace is one without conflict, Christ’s peace is one without fear of present or future, sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and other struggles within our hearts. Jesus gives us peace when we accept Him.
Do you have peace without worries or fears?
