Building my Business, day 9- Burnt Out

31 Days HeaderHonestly, as motivating as the 31 day challenge is to focus and refresh myself within my business. All this week I have felt nothing but burnt out. Like everything I have done is for nothing. And I suppose all business owners get burnt out at one time or another. So, today I am taking a break to refresh myself and gain new perspective. It’s not that I am burnt out over blogging but I have been tirelessly working on prompting and marketing my business in the area for several months with little to show.

Do you ever get burnt out with your blog or business? How do you deal with that?

  1. Shelby: you are not alone! Building a business is hard work. I don’t know what the right ingredient or balance is, but some mentors have shared that 80% of your effort should be revenue producing. Focus your efforts on what will bring in the clients and schedule time for a break.

  2. I have totally been there, and I am enjoying your 31 day series because I just launched my little shop so its great to get some tips and pointers each day. But please take a mental break and return refreshed! It’s much more effective that way! πŸ™‚ Sending good vibes your way!

  3. Yes. I burn out when I’m pushing myself too hard with my business. A day or two off to regroup usually does the trick and I’m able to get back to it.

    1. I plan to take the weekend ‘off’ and have fun since those posts are already written and I have a women’s meeting a girlfriend meeting with me to take my mind off of the unsuccessful bits and point back in the right direction!

  4. Yes! A lot. I started on Etsy 3 years ago selling jewelry, which I still do and love, but this summer I opened a new blog & shop to selling printed paper and office goods. My goal was to create a biz that didn’t require me to be constantly creating inventory (like jewelry). But it has been soooo much work to get my new biz off the ground. It’s not even the writing posts or designing products that seems to take up all the time…it’s the social media and the scheduling part that gets me burnt out the most!

I feel like I’m either working on my biz, worrying about it, or thinking about it 24/7 and I need a break too!! I think the first year or so of getting anything going is going to be hard, but hopefully after that we can just coast and reap the rewards of all our hard work! That’s what I’m hoping at least, haha. Good luck to you and enjoy your break!

  5. You have been kicking butt in your marketing it sounds like, I’d be burnt out too! I’m actually beginning to feel a little burnt out with blogging, researching and all of the putzy work that comes with getting down to business but I am going to take it as a sign that I have done enough for now and just focus on a small part here and there for this coming week. Loving walking along side you as we both conquer the same ground in our professions!
