{Good Bye Colorado, Hello California}

Long story short: Husband and I moved to Montrose, CO in December 2013 for his new position at Hospice starting in January. March 31st husband finds out his Hospice is being closed. It was bought by a larger company and decided his location wasn’t ‘lucrative’ enough. He was paid through mid April. Between then and now we found out unemployment denied him, and I began working more.

Last week, he applied for a position at the last minute and got to Skype interview for the position on Friday. It really bothered him that he had to wait over the weekend to hear something. Monday afternoon he called just to ask some follow up questions and found out they wanted to offer him the position.

We are moving to Modesto, CA. (the green pin is where we met, dated and got married in College)

Although we are sad to leave Colorado, we are very excited for what is to come. How can we not be? There are a ton of things to figure out but Travis’ spirits have been lifted. He is excited to begin working again, and I am excited to see him happy. It’s hard to be happy when you have a Masters Degree and can’t find work.

Travis is leaving next week and will ‘go west’, if he gets to the beach he has gone too far! I have a unique opportunity. I am staying to pack and clean, and my work has been generous enough to tell me I don’t have to stay. When Travis 1st became unemployed we thought it was going to be another 6 month long process to find a job, (those 6 months reached havoc on my emotional health) so I thought I was going to be here through Fair at least. Now with the support of my co-workers and boss as friends. They are encouraging me to do what is right for us. They realize Fair is a ‘big deal’ but so is being away from your husband for 2 months.

So far, the rent is comparable to what we have been paying here in Colorado. And we are going to be 1.5 hours from the beach and 2 hours from Yosemite National Park. Travis’ family is officially bi-coastal with his sister living in North Carolina. My family is still based in Texas, I am the only one living out of state except for family in Michigan, Travis applied for jobs there too. (as well as everywhere else in the US, including Texas) This gives us and our families opportunities to really vacation when we see them here or there. I admit it is a big change but I am up for it.

I don’t think it has fully set in for me yet. There is so much to do and so much to figure out.

This is going to be quiet the adventure.
